The Building & Land Use staff are responsible for the day-to-day administration and enforcement of:
- CT State Building Code;
- Town of Thomaston Zoning Regulations;
- Town of Thomaston Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Regulations;
- Town of Thomaston Aquifer Protection Regulations;
- Erosion & Sedimentation Control;
- Flood Plain Management;
- Stormwater Management; and
- Any other pertinent Town Ordinances which have been delegated to the B&LU Office by the Board of Selectmen.
All complaints should be submitted in writing on the attached complaint form. If the issue at hand is of an emergency nature, please call 911 (as appropriate) and then the Building & Land Use Office prior to completing a complaint form.
While it is the policy of the Building & Land Use Office to accept and document all complaints, anonymous phone/email complaints and/or unsigned written complaints are given the lowest priority. Highest priority is given first to complaints or violations involving direct impacts to public health and safety and those involving earth moving (grading, filling or excavation), then secondly to other written and signed complaints and lastly to anonymous complaints, in the order in which they are received.
