Recreation Commission

The Recreation Commission is a seven-member Commission comprised of volunteer Thomaston residents. The Commission is charged with providing recreation programs to residents of all ages. 

The Thomaston Recreation Commission oversees 6 recreation areas in the Town of Thomaston with a total of approximately 54 acres dedicated to passive and active recreational activities. These facilities combine to provide tennis courts, basketball courts, softball diamonds, baseball diamonds, a track and several areas with playground equipment for children. Also included in these facilities is Nystrom's Park, a lovely picnicking and swimming area complete with bath house, changing areas, and boat launch.

In addition to maintaining these facilities, the Thomaston Recreation Commission works diligently to provide to the residents of Thomaston an extensive array of recreation programs. These varied programs are intended to run year- round and include programs for youth, adult, and seniors. These programs are diversified and include many athletic programs as well as cultural outlets. Also, the Recreation Commission has included an extensive array of bus trips to complement its athletic and cultural programs.
