How do I obtain a burn permit?
Burn Permits are required for:
- Burning brush
- Burning in a barrel
- Bonfires (bonfires must be out by 11:30PM)
Burning permits will be issued Monday through Thursday only by the Fire Marshal. 24 hours' notice is required. Burn Permit fee is $10.00.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Permits are for residents only and must be obtained by the homeowner.
- Open burning is limited to the burning of brush ONLY on residential property upon which the permittee resides. Brush is defined as shrubs, vegetation or prunings, the diameter of which is not greater than 3" at the widest point.
- Burning on property not zoned or classified as residential is PROHIBITED.
- Burning may only be conducted between the hours of 10:00AM and 5:00PM.
- The burn pile MUST be completely extinguished by 5:00PM and all embers and coals MUST be extinguished and wet down.
- Natural wood is the only allowable burning material. Skids, demolition material, garbage, cardboard and/or leaves are NOT allowed to be burned.
These rules and regulations will be strictly enforced and repeat violations will result in infractions and/or fines.
