The Thomaston Opera House was built in 1884 and serves as a cultural and recreational center for the town and surrounding communities. Owned by the Town of Thomaston with oversight from a 9-member commission appointed by the Board of Selectmen, the Opera House is a point of pride for area residents and the many people who participate in its productions each year.
Since 2012, the Town and Opera House Commission have contracted with Landmark Community Theatre (LCT), a local arts organization incorporated with the state of Connecticut, to manage the theatre and provide the type of programming audiences have come to expect. The theatre has succeeded due to the professionalism, expertise, and diligence of LCT’s staff and Board of Trustees as well as the relentless dedication of the countless hard-working and talented volunteers.
As the community enjoys the quality theatrical productions, we must continue collaborative efforts to restore this historic facility and improve its technical capabilities. We need your help! The continued success of this theatre depends on many people working together. With your financial support, the Thomaston Opera House will continue to grow and thrive. We will maintain high-quality entertainment and educational programming and you will help us to improve, update, and restore our historic facility.
Donations and memorials may be given to the Friends of the Opera House, the Thomaston Opera House Restoration Fund, or LCT.
