The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes you to the Thomaston Dam, located in the towns of Thomaston, Harwinton, Litchfield and Plymouth, Connecticut.
The Thomaston Dam is part of a network of flood control dams and local protection projects built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Naugatuck Valley Basin. The dam was constructed at a cost of $14 million and completed in 1960.
The 849 acres of land and water resources provide visitors with many recreational opportunities such as hiking, sightseeing, snow-mobiling, fishing and upland game hunting.
Thomaston Dam has designated trails for two wheeled trail bikes. Three- and four-wheel vehicles are not permitted. The trails are open late May to mid-September and are weather conditional. Plan your trip by calling 860-283-5540.
A cooperative agreement for trail management has been in place since 1979 with the Pathfinders Motorcycle Club.
