FAQs

How do I apply for a CT Pistol Permit?

You must be a resident of Thomaston, CT and at least 21 years of age.

Begin by picking up the Pistol Permit Information Sheet in the lobby of the Thomaston Police Department. 

All steps on the Pistol Permit Information Sheet must be complete prior to scheduling fingerprinting appointment. 

Call 860-283-4343 to schedule a fingerprinting appointment. Fingerprinting is on Tuesdays 9AM-1PM and Thursdays 11AM-3PM by appointment only (All appointments are subject to cancellation by Police Department at any time).

The following is required on the day of your fingerprint appointment:
1) DESPP pre-enrollment bar code
2) Original Application, complete, signed, and notarized
3) Course Certificate and DESPP addendum
4) $90 Money Order or Bank Check made out to Thomaston Police Department (No personal checks or cash)
5) CT Driver's License
6) Birth Certificate or US Passport

Failure to complete all steps or to bring all required documents will delay your fingerprinting appointment.

How do I obtain a copy of a police report?

Print out and complete the FOIA Records Request Form and return to the police department front desk or scan and email the completed form to records@thomastonct.org. Forms are also available to pick up at the police department lobby. Limitations and Fees apply.

How do I obtain a copy of an accident report?

Contact Records Department at 860-283-4343 Monday thru Friday 7AM - 3PM or send a request by email to records@thomastonct.org. Fees apply.

How do I obtain a peddler, vendor, solicitor license?

Download the Application Form for Peddlers, Hawkers, Canvassers, Solicitors, and Vendors License. Complete the form and drop off at the Police Department front desk or scan and email the completed form to records@thomastonct.org. Forms may also be picked up at the front desk. Fees apply.

How do I dispose my unwanted prescription medications?

For proper disposal of unwanted prescription medications and/or drugs, the DEA Drug Take Back drop box is available in the Police Department lobby 24/7/365. No questions asked. Please, no needles or sharps.
