TOWN OF THOMASTON
WARNING OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2021 @ 7:00 P.M.
TOWN HALL – LENA MORTON GALLERY
The electors and those persons eligible to vote in town meetings of the Town of Thomaston, Connecticut, are hereby warned and notified that the Special Town Meeting will be held in the Town Hall, 158 Main Street, Thomaston, Connecticut, in the Lena Morton Gallery, on October 6, 2021, at 7:00 P.M. for the following purposes:
ITEM 1. To consider and act on an Ordinance Prohibiting Use of Cannabis on Town Property.
ITEM 2. As recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance, to consider and act on the following Resolution:
WHEREAS, in January 2020, a Town Meeting of the Town of Thomaston approved an appropriation of $6,662,600.00, of which the total allotted for Phase 1 Road Project reconstruction was $5,736,000.00, including a state grant in the amount of $128,205.00, and less anticipated expenses of approximately $3,360,000.00, for a surplus balance of approximately $2,247,795.00;
THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED that the Town of Thomaston hereby REAPPROPRIATES an amount not to exceed $150,000.00 from said Phase 1 Road Project surplus to the capital project of repaving of the parking lot for the Town Hall and Library, AND TO AUTHORIZE the First Selectman and Board of Selectmen to execute such documents necessary or convenient for said project.
AND IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town of Thomaston hereby accepts and approves the proposal for such paving of said Town Hall and Library parking lot from Harwinton Paving for an amount not to exceed $150,000.00, AND TO AUTHORIZE the First Selectman and Board of Selectmen to execute such contract(s) and documents necessary or convenient for said purpose.
ITEM 3. As recommended by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance, to consider and act on a Resolution:
To APPROPRIATE an amount not to exceed $33,863.64 from the Town’s undesignated fund balance account for the current fiscal year, and an amount not to exceed $20,540.08 each year thereafter for four years, resulting in an overall total not to exceed $116,023.96 over five years, for the purchase of body cameras for police officers of the Town of Thomaston Police Department and dash cameras for Town of Thomaston Police Department cruisers from Axon Enterprise, Inc.; and that the First Selectman and Board of Selectmen ARE AUTHORIZED to execute and deliver any and all documents and to perform any and all acts necessary or convenient for said purchase.
