F/T Building Official
The Town of Thomaston and the Town of Watertown have an immediate opening for a shared Building Official. This position will work part-time hours in both towns that together will equal a full-time schedule. Responsibilities to include inspections, enforcing the State building code, issuing permits, and issuing notices and orders to remove illegal or unsafe conditions. Must have strong working knowledge of the State Building Code and possess a valid State of Connecticut Building Official certification. The Building & Land Use Office is open to the public during normal Town Hall business hours. In order to continue assisting our residents and their contractors in a safe but expeditious manner, we have instituted the following:
- Please wait in the hallway outside the office door if someone is already present and being served in the office
The Building and Land Use Department is responsible for issuing permits for construction and renovations of buildings and alterations to land within the Town of Thomaston. Department staff enforces building, zoning, and inland wetlands codes and regulations for the town.
