The Treasurer's Office is responsible for the monitoring of all financial activities of the Town of Thomaston, including oversight of the Board of Education. The department oversees the annual audit and prepares the Town's annual budget and comprehensive annual financial statements, fulfills required SEC disclosure requirements pertaining to the Town's debt, and monitors the Town's compliance with laws, regulations, contracts and grants.
The Town's finance director serves on the Safety Committee and Capital Improvement Committee and serves as the director of the Town's computer network and purchasing agent. The finance director also oversees administration of the Town's internal control procedures and develops new policies and procedures as deemed appropriate. The finance director attends all Board of Finance meetings, provides monthly reports to the Board's members, and prepares special analyses as requested by the Board of Finance.
