ROAD REBUILDING UP DATE

The work on Year One Roads has begun. The Highway Dept. has been installing drainage, fixing catch basins in preparation for the actual road rebuilding to start. This should begin in mid-August. We are waiting for bids to come in for the grinding and repaving.

We are pleased to announce that S&S Paving from Southbury CT has won the award for Year 1 work. Kevin and the boys have done work in town before. Babbitt Rd., Old Northfield Rd., Tracy St., Homestead Park, Hotchkiss Ave. has all been S&S work along with Hillside Cemetery. We are looking forward to working with them again.

The drainage work n High Street Ext. will continue the week of Aug. 25th. There will be temporary closure to repair pipe and catch basins. It will be worth the wait TRUST US!!!!

A tentative schedule has been established for the grinding and repaving to start. S&S Paving will be ready to start the week of Sept.22nd. The first roads will be dependent as to where our drainage work has been completed.

Starting on Monday Sept. 29th the following roads will be reclaimed, High St. Ext. Twin Pond Road, Atwood Road, Atwood Heights.

Starting on Monday Sept. 29th the following streets will be milled, Center Street from RT 254 to South Main ST., Marine Street, Innes Ave.

 This photo shows S & S Asphalt Paving crew milling High St. Extension. This is the first step in a total rebuild of the road surface.

This photo shows the "Reclaimer" reclaiming the sub base and thin layer of asphalt. This is the second step.

******UPDATE******

The following streets have been completed;

Twin Pond Road, Center St., Marine St., Innes Ave.

Atwood Heights, Atwood Road, High St. Ext. will be completed before winter and that will be all for this season. Work will begin in the spring on Smith Road, Humiston Circle, Senior Ave., Hilltop Ave, Walnut Hill Road. Don't forget that Year 1 is officially August 2008-August-2009. The money was not approved by taxpayers until July 2008. We appreciate your patience in this matter.
